The Challenge

Japara Aged Care is one of Australia’s largest aged care providers with over 50 homes already operating and growing rapidlyWith the onset of the Covid pandemic they, like all aged care facilities, were tasked with tracing all visitors be they staff, contractors, doctors, or family members visiting residents.

That was the task they came to Touch Screens Melbourne to assist with. They had engaged with a software partner already who had offered a simple tablet solution, but Japara wanted a more professional looking system to represent their brand (after all this would be the first thing visitors would see on entering a facility) and also a more robust solution that would stand the test of time.

The Solution

The hardware we chose came down to a couple of main factors being budget and functionality which quite often don’t meet in the middle. We worked closely with the Japara IT and marketing teams to come up with something that ticked all their boxes and looked great in their aged care facilities.

That’s not where the project stopped though. Wthen worked with their software provider and set each kiosk up to automatically turn on and launch into the sign in-app when they were plugged in. All that was needed now was to install the kiosks into the Japara sites and do the onsite set up which involved joining the wifi network, testing, and training of staff. This was across five states and both in capital cities and also remote regional areas.

Our Sydney and Melbourne teams completed the Victoria and New South Wales sites spanning from Colac to Lakes Entrance in Vic and south of Sydney up to Coffs Harbour and beyond in NSW. We then utilised our network of installation partners to complete the SA, Qld, and Tasmania sites. So now all Japara aged care facilities are keeping residents, staff, visitors, and their local communities safe with a great Covid contact tracing solution utilising our hardware.
